About your Legionella risk assessment

Easy to understand - Highlights the risks - Provides recommendations

Our risk assessments meet the requirements of the ISO: 9001 standard. We complete them in line with the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8. This provides you with the assurance that your risk assessment will be comprehensive.

Our Legionella consultants will assess the risks of Legionella bacteria at your premises. They will examine a range of factors in this process including:

  • Your water system and its design. For example, we will identify dead legs. These can allow for water to stagnate and allow microbial growth.
  • The usage rates. Low use can lead to bacteria growth.
  • The temperature of your water system. This is important as Legionella bacteria grows in water systems between 20 degrees Celcius and 45 degrees Celcius.
  • The bacteria levels within your system. We may take samples to test for total bacteria levels within your system but with a focus on Legionella.

We enter the results of the risk assessment into our database on site. This improves the accuracy of our work. It also reduces the lead time on the provision of your risk assessment document.

Once we have identified the risks, we will look at each one in detail. Then we provide tailored recommendations to minimise each risk. You may need some modifications to the system design or the temperature may need adjusting. We could advise you to flush and clean elements of your system on a regular basis. It is highly likely you will need to implement on-going monitoring.

You will receive a digital copy of your risk assessment by email.

Once a customer of Scientific Services, you get access to our secure customer portal. This is an interactive system that will:

  • Hold your risk assessment report.
  • Provide a system for logging your maintenance and monitoring data.
  • Send out notification alerts if you become non compliant.
  • Support you in the event of an inspection from the HSE.

“The team at Scientific Services were professional and helpful. They have made the process of getting our risk assessment sorted, hassle free.” John Fitzpatrick, Manager, Gwealan Tops Adventure Playground.

Day 1 - Our consultant will spend half a day at your site for the practical assessment.

Day 2 - Our consultant will write your report and arrange for the production of any required CAD drawings.

Day 3 - Our consultant will finalise your report. Then, following a quality check, we will email your risk assessment and make it available on your customer portal.

Every site is unique in size, location and, therefore, requirements. As a result each building will need a different number of man hours on site.

Our MD, Dr Tim Hamilton will discuss you site with you in great detail. This ensures that we provide an accurate, fixed cost quotation.
