Shellfish Testing
We run an independent, UKAS-accredited, E. coli test for molluscs. This enables shellfish producers to comply with the EU Directive 91/492/EEC, as well as with associated UK legislation.
Our Most Probable Number (MPN) test, is a five tube, three dilution method that distinguishes between characteristic features of E. coli and other bacteria.
The test results provided by our experienced Microbiologists, are suitable for classifying your shellfish production areas according to the amount of faecal contamination found.
