Case Studies

Please take a look at some of our recent case studies undertaken at Scientific Services.

Plymouth Community Homes

Plymouth Community Homes has an in-house asbestos team that is responsible for the Council’s housing stock. Our asbestos consultants work alongside their Contracts Managers, to ensure that asbestos removal work is completed to an acceptable standard, by both their in-house asbestos removal team and appointed contractors. We have provided efficient and accurate visual inspections, air monitoring and clearance services to the Council along with our asbestos bulk analysis testing service for a number of years.

Cornwall Council

Cornwall Council has been responsible for the management of asbestos throughout public sector buildings in Cornwall. We have worked closely with the Council and their appointed contractors on a range of asbestos removal projects. We have supervised the removal process from witnessing smoke tests through to the final clearance and ensured that jobs have been completed according to the agreed plan of work. We also assist in updating the Council’s asbestos registers through the completion of their unique paperwork and have also provided an accurate bulk analysis service to their asbestos team.

Maenporth Estate

Maenporth Estate is set in 29 acres of natural wooded grounds within an area of outstanding natural beauty, overlooking the sea and just a minutes’ walk from Maenporth beach. Maenporth is a unique prestigious development of holiday homes on one of the most exclusive stretches of coast in Cornwall and the idyllic accommodation is accompanied with excellent leisure facilities, including a swimming and spa pool.

We provided Maenporth with an initial risk assessment of their pools and the water systems that support them, then subsequent monthly sampling and testing of their pool water, this ensures that they are in compliance with the current guidelines and legislative requirements as well as demonstrating their commitment to the health and well-being of their visitors.

Cornish Mussels

Cornish Mussels operates a rope grown mussel farm in the King Harry Passage at Feock and has a depuration plant at Gweek. Set up in 2001, the farm is now well established and under the brand name ‘Madame Moule’, sells produce to a wide range of wholesalers and restaurants throughout the UK.

We have worked closely with Cornish Mussels and provided independent analysis of the high quality shellfish that they produce, which ensures that their mussels comply with food quality standards.
